Troy V. Matty, 41, of 2894 Route 864, Montoursville, faces new charges after he assaulted his girlfriend at his home the morning of June 7 when she came to his Upper Fairfield Township home to take some of her personal belongings, state police said in an affidavit filed with District Judge Gary Whiteman’s office. The woman asked Matty to put the items on his porch, but when she arrived, they weren’t there, so she knocked on the front door, police said. Matty opened the door and let her in, police said, adding that the woman saw her items on the kitchen table.

“I guess you’re withdrawing the charges” Matty asked her out, the court document said. When she told him no, he started yelling at her and punched her in the face, police said. “Why are you doing this to me? You have to drop the charges.” he told the woman when “He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. As she fell, Matty grabbed her by the neck with one hand and by the shirt with the other” Police were notified. After landing on the floor, the woman got up and ran from the house, police said.

Matty is facing charges of intimidating a witness, simple assault and harassment. He was ordered held Monday for a court hearing on those charges and remains locked up in the Lycoming County Jail without bail.

At the time of the alleged attack last month, Matty was free on $10,000 bail on state police charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment that stemmed from a May 7 domestic disturbance at Matty’s home involving the same woman. On May 20, Matty dropped all charges in the original case.
