Man fights for life after serious car and motorbike crash on A85 in Oban

A man is fighting for his life after a serious car and motorcycle crash in Oban.

Officers were called to the incident, which happened at around 5.30pm on Thursday on the A85 Dunollie Road.

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the crash involving a black Kawasaki ZX1400 motorcycle and a white Toyota Hilux.

Police confirmed the motorbike driver, a 63-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition was described as “critical”.

The driver of the car was not injured.

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out and reopened at around 11:40pm.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information about the crash to contact them.

Sergeant Scott Miller said: “We are investigating and I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us.

“I would particularly like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the accident but has not yet spoken to officers or does not have dashcam footage that could assist in making contact.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 “quoting reference 2562 dated July 4, 2024”
