(FOX40.COM) — The City of Woodland announced that this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show will not take place due to staffing constraints.

City officials announced the fireworks show had been canceled after a contractor helping to organize it suffered “serious injuries” while working on the fireworks display on Wednesday.

“We are disappointed to have to cancel the show and send our thoughts to the injured crew,” the Woodland Fire Department wrote in a Facebook post. “We wish them a speedy recovery and a Happy Fourth of July to all.”

The city said it will work with its partners to reschedule the fireworks show. The Woodland fireworks show was scheduled to take place at Woodland High School.
