Finals’ New Game Boy Backpack Is Playable and Has a Ranking

No matter how you feel about The finals“gunplay, there’s no denying that Embark Studios’ talent for creating incredible cosmetics is second to none. The latest update to the PS5 and Xbox shooter brings players Game Boy Finals Backpacka new cosmetic inspired by Nintendo’s iconic handheld console. Not only will you be able to play Embark’s Orf game on it, but you’ll also be able to compete for a top position on a secret leaderboard.

At first glance, The Finals’ portable Heropack is a charming cosmetic item, with cute Game Boy-style animations that play continuously amidst the FPS game’s destructive matches. However, if you inspect the gorgeous blobby piece, you can start the mini-game that involves catching delicious slices of pizza sprites.

What makes this game even more interesting is that you don’t even need to spend any money in the multiplayer game’s item shop, you can just check out the cosmetics and start playing from there. If you think you’re a bit skilled, you can head over to the Orfs leaderboard to see where you currently stand. At the time of publishing this article, the top spot is held by PC player “Fluffy Doggo”, with a total of 2,496 points.

It’s features like these that make The Finals one of the best games in the FPS genre right now, as Embark Studios usually goes the extra mile with even the smallest features. The Heroback handheld console is available in-game for 400 MultiBucks, or you can get it in a bundle for 450 MultiBucks with an extra sticker for your weapons and gadgets. Just don’t expect to be able to play any of the best Nintendo Switch games or classic Game Boy games on it.

While this is a cool new addition for Embark, we wonder if this type of treatment will extend to similar minor cosmetics in the future. Instead of the vehicles in the finale heading into the arena, maybe Embark should make the skateboard usable as a back cosmetic? We wouldn’t say no to doing a Tre Flip during a game of Power Shift. This isn’t the first time Embark has done something like this, though.

Players using the Heavy class in The Finals will know that the Sledgehammer has a skin that turns it into a Fender Jazzmaster-inspired guitar. You can play some tasty licks on it by using the “inspect” button during a match.

In related news, The Finals’ World Tour mode is setting foot on new ground, and the all-new Ruby tier is available in Ranked Leagues – with a catch.
