Furniture company withdraws shelf due to death of four-year-old

Effingham, IL-(Radio Effingham)- A furniture company is recalling one of its products almost a year after a toddler died in a rollover accident.

According to the recall, Dania Furniture’s Hayden shelving unit can tip over if it is not anchored to the wall, creating an entrapment hazard that could result in “death or serious injury to children.” The Idaho-based company says it received a report last August of a four-year-old who died due to an “unanchored” shelving unit that tipped over.

Between November 2017 and February 2024, more than 900 shelves were sold across the country.
