I94 crash: Driver, dog killed in car crash on Bishop Ford Freeway at 115th Street; Chicago traffic snarls, state police say

All southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway are closed between 115th and 130th Streets following a serious car crash.

CHICAGO (WLS) — All southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway are closed following a fatal crash early Friday morning on Chicago’s South Side, Illinois State Police said.

The crash occurred around 5:50 a.m. on Interstate 94 at 115th Street.

A white GMC SUV struck a median, ejecting the driver, ISP said. The driver, whose age and gender were not immediately known, was killed.

A dog also died in the accident. There was no one else in the SUV.

All lanes of I-94 southbound are closed between 115th and 130th Streets.

Drivers will be directed to detour onto 115th Street and will be able to rejoin the highway at 130th Street.

Helicopter No. 7 flew over the scene while police conducted an investigation.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
