The lawyer for rape-accused televangelist Tim Omotoso has asked the Eastern Cape High Court in Gqeberha to declare his trial unfair, saying it was “tainted by corrupt prosecutors”.

In his application to the court on Thursday, Peter Daubermann also requested that the witness statements in the case be declared inadmissible because, he said, some of the complainants were questioned by the said prosecutors, lawyers Nceba Ntelwa and Ishmet Cerfontein.

The charges stem from Ntelwa allegedly ordering a witness not to change her police statement in which she did not mention the alleged rape, although she had informed Cerfontein about it.
