Motorcyclist on ‘stolen’ bike seriously injured in crash after failing to stop for police

West Midlands Police were called to the scene on Heath Way, Hodge Hill, Birmingham, just before 2pm and the road was closed. It remained closed at around 9pm.

No one else was injured in the collision and drivers were advised to use alternative routes.

In a statement on the police website it said: “We are currently at the scene of a collision on Heath Way, Hodge Hill.

“The incident involved a motorcycle and a car. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m.

“The man on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries. No one else was injured.

“The driver of the stolen motorcycle failed to stop when called upon by officers before the accident.

“The matter was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is normal procedure in such circumstances.”
