Prosecutors have decided to discontinue the proceedings against a former employee of the association that organises the annual Pori Jazz festival.

The board of the Pori Jazz festival filed a report with the police in 2022 regarding suspected misuse of association funds. Media reported at the time that the organization suspected that a former employee had misused money intended to organize and run the event.

Police have launched an investigation into a former employee on suspicion of fraud and breach of trust in connection with payments totalling €70,000 made in 2019 to a video production company.

The general manager of Pori Jazz at that time was Miika Rannewho currently works for Yle.

However, on Friday, prosecutors said they were dropping the charges because there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.

Founded in 1966, Pori Jazz is the longest-running music festival in Finland and one of the oldest in Europe. This year’s edition starts next Friday.
