An outraged Columbus police officer cut me off. If I had done that, I would have been in trouble.

Columbus police car

I’d get in trouble if I acted like the Columbus police.

Why do we as normal citizens need to use our turn signals when changing lanes or turning? Yes, it is to warm up the traffic around us that we change lanes.

I was driving down Mound Street the other day. And one of the best cops in Columbus was driving down the road. And without signaling, a cop in a K-9 car cut me off without signaling, causing me to brake hard and almost hit the back of the car.

So why can police officers not use their turn signals with impunity, but will they issue tickets to citizens for the same thing?

I think this is unfair.

From the archives: Criticism of Columbus Police Car for Black History Month

Years ago, if you saw a police officer not following the law, you could make a citizen’s arrest. Today, you’re probably the one getting a ticket for obstructing justice or interfering with a police officer.

Why can the police afford to do this while we are issued tickets and given a court date?

Schools can be transformed into nurseries

Regarding closing schools: I think the board could get creative and rent out unused space for businesses, storage, etc.

The unused space could be a great daycare business. So many single mothers have to work until 5 p.m., and school ends at 3 p.m.

Guest Columnist: The problem is not the students of Columbus. The problem is the adults. Closing schools is not the solution.

She could simply pick up the kids from school after work and not have to find a separate sitter or leave the kids alone unattended for two hours. That way, the entire school wouldn’t have to be closed and the extra work of rearranging kids and bus routes wouldn’t have to happen.

I want milkweed

I was glad you read the article about House Bill 364, which allows the spread of milkweed in Ohio to help save monarch butterflies.

It’s a pity that the article did not provide the names of local nurseries, garden stores and other places where you can buy milkweed plants and plant them in your home gardens.
