TROY, N.Y. — Three students from KIPP Troy Prep High School have been selected to participate in a college preparatory program at Georgetown University this summer.

Alanis Osorio, Nasir McMillian, and Lovette Thomas are participating in the Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) at Georgetown University, which began June 30 and will run through July 19. SCIP is offered to high-achieving students who are members of the KIPP Foundation School System, the Cristo Rey Network, and other select schools, networks, and community organizations.

The students just finished their third year at KIPP Troy Prep High School. Osorio has been attending KIPP since kindergarten and is interested in continuing his education at John Jay College in New York. McMillian has been attending KIPP since sixth grade and is interested in attending New York University School of Business. Thomas hopes to study criminal psychology at Hampton University.

“As a member of the KIPP Forward Team, it is always rewarding to help our Fellows achieve great things, especially when it helps them prepare for their chosen career path,” Myles Clendenin, KIPP Capital Region Alumni Support Manager, said in a press release. “This free, three-week program will give our KIPPsters the opportunity to meet other students from across the country while expanding their resources, interests and skills.”

KIPP Forward team members provide support to students through the FAFSA application process, scholarship and college applications, career preparation and graduate paths.
