Charges are pending in connection with a suspected crash in Red Deer early Thursday morning that was allegedly caused by a drunk driver.

On July 4, 2024, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a car accident in downtown Red Deer.

Upon arrival, Mounties say a thorough investigation was conducted which revealed the driver involved in the crash was intoxicated, resulting in the arrest of a 35-year-old man for DUI causing bodily harm.

Police say the individual was later released after being issued a summons to appear. Because the charge has not yet been sworn into court, RCMP say the suspect’s name cannot be released at this time. Mounted police officers say an update will be released once the investigation is complete.
