Kokomo 83-year-old man missing, last seen near Fort Wayne

KOKOMO, Ind. — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating an 83-year-old man missing from Kokomo.

According to the Kokomo Police Department, James “Jim” Umbarger went missing from his Kokomo home on Thursday. A family member last spoke with Umbarger around 2 p.m., when they learned the missing man was somewhere in the Fort Wayne area. Umbarger wasn’t sure how he got there.

Police said the family has not been able to contact Umbarger since then and fears he will not find his way back to Kokomo.

Umbarger was last seen driving a white 2000 Cadillac DeVille with a blue cloth top and Indiana license plates UWJ534.

State police issued a state Silver Alert at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. State police said Umbarger may be in extreme danger and require medical attention.
