Tom Hanks’ Son Chet Wanted a ‘White Boy Summer’ – Now It’s a Hateful Slogan

Taking to his Instagram Page On May 20, Chet innocently shared a selfie showing off his translucent Versace sunglasses and diamond chain, along with a caption that read, “I looked to the heavens, felt a west breeze, and walked out of a strip club and saw my shadow… this will be a #WBS #iHaveSpoken.”

You guessed it, “WBS” stands for “white boy summer,” a slogan the 33-year-old has been using since at least 2021, drawing inspiration from Megan Thee StallionThe success of Hot summer for girls.

In a bizarre turn of events, Chet’s benign slogan, which became a viral meme, has been completely hijacked by white supremacists.

In recent months, hate-filled extremist groups have called for the destruction of Pride flags, the killing of “n*****s and communists,” and the creation of “more militias” under the common slogan of “white boy summer,” according to a revealing report from a nonprofit organization. Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) was revealed on Tuesday (July 2).

According to GPAHE, several bigoted sections, including the Proud Boys, White Lives Matter, the Identitarian movement in Europe and active neo-Nazi clubs, have been using “White Boys Summer” since 2021 to spread propaganda, recruit new members and facilitate targeted hate campaigns that include acts of vandalism and hate incidents.

Over the past three years, there have been an alarming number of incidents involving extremists and the use of WBS.

More recently, when former President Donald Trump Headlining the “People’s Convention” hosted by the far-right organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA) in June, a TPUSA staff member took the stage with a WBS flag, GPAHE reported.

Neo-Nazis have continued to recruit using the WBS, such as Ultras Not Reds, a European Telegram account asking subscribers to submit white supremacist activism contributions during “WBS adventures,” according to GPAHE.

In addition, a Finnish radical movement organized a summer festival “White Boy Summer”, which took place on June 14-15 this year.

The shocking exposé may have been heard by Chet, who finally clarified on Thursday (July 4) that his WBS slogan was never intended to be racist.

Taking to his Instagram PageHe shared: “White Boys Summer was created to be fun, playful, and a celebration of white boys who love beautiful queens of all races.”

Unfortunately for this baby nepo, what was meant to be a light-hearted joke turned into a public relations nightmare.

“Anything that has been twisted to support any form of hatred or bigotry against any group of people is deplorable and I condemn it.

“I hope we can all love one another and treat one another with kindness and dignity.”

The actor’s message was well-received, with one person commenting: “People will literally do anything to try to dim our light. Love will always triumph.”

One Instagram user wrote: “It was never white Nascar. It was always you, John B, Jack Harlow white.”

Someone else wrote: “Real people know!!! White boy summer is all inclusive.”

One observer added: “Why does this need an explanation and why can’t people just enjoy things for what they are and not turn them into something else.

“I am black and I love my allies beige.”

Another added: “Chet, I know you’re an advocate for love, bro. Don’t worry, I’m not lumping you in with prejudiced people.”

THE Shameless The star has previously sparked controversy with her outspoken appreciation of black culture, often adopting elements such as language and style that some see as cultural appropriation.

A notable example is his occasional use of Jamaican patois in social media videos, where he imitates the accent and expressions commonly used in Jamaica.

He first went viral speaking Jamaican Patois in 2020 at the Golden Globe Awards. At the time, Chet posted an Instagram video from the red carpet showing him praising his famous father in front of Tom was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the ceremony, People reported.

In the clip, Chet speaks English-based Creole, exclaiming, “BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN???”

The musician was later invited to appear on comedian Ziwe’s eponymous late-night variety show on Showtime.

During his appearance, Chet was asked about his most important and consistent identifier: being an inveterate culture vulture, Rolling stone reported in 2022.

Chet finally clarified on Thursday (July 4) that his WBS slogan was never intended to be racist.

“Is there marginalized communities “Who do you want to apologize to?” Ziwe asked his guest. “I don’t know, maybe the patois community?”

Chet replied, “No, I don’t feel like I’ve really done anything offensive, so I don’t do it.”

When Ziwe, known for his satirical works, asked how Chet’s version of a white boy’s summer “was different from the past 400 summers in American history,” the actor concluded that maybe it wasn’t.

Chet deflected the question and asked the host if she was trying to make him nervous. Ziwe followed up by asking, “Are you afraid of black women?” to which he replied that he wasn’t, but maybe he should be.
