Firefighters had their hands full in Rockford on July 4: Four house fires in 16 hours | MyStateline

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Fire Department spent the Fourth of July holiday fighting multiple house fires and said the causes of those fires are currently under investigation.

According to the fire department, as of 7:30 a.m. Friday, firefighters had extinguished four fires in the past 16 hours, including:


4:50 p.m. in the 900 block of Sunset Avenue;
12:39 a.m. in the 1000 block of Montague Street:
At 12:43 p.m., firefighters arrived at a vacant home in the 2100 block of Martha Street and saw flames shooting out of a second-story window. Authorities say the building suffered $25,000 in damage.
At 2:42 a.m. in the 1100 block of S. Church Street, two adults lost their homes.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries in the Montague Street blaze, but no one else was hurt, authorities said.
