Firefighters sent to hospital after rubble fire

The fire, which sent two firefighters to the hospital, is being investigated by the Iredell County Fire Marshal’s Office. Two Mooresville firefighters were treated at a local hospital Tuesday (July 2) for injuries sustained at the scene of a large debris fire.

Mount Mourne Fire Department personnel and nearby units were dispatched at 11:52 a.m. to what was initially reported as a structure fire at 130 Ritchie Foam Lane.
Crews arrived to find a large debris fire outside, and a second alarm was declared due to the size of the fire. The information comes from a press release from the Mount Mourne Fire Department, Mooresville Fire & Rescue and a report posted on iredellfreenews.com.

The fire was extinguished at 12:36 p.m. The following units assisted in the rescue operation: Mooresville Fire-Rescue, South Iredell Fire-Rescue, Davidson Fire Department, Cornelius-Lemley Fire-Rescue, Iredell County EMS, Iredell County Fire Marshal’s Office, Iredell County Emergency Management and the Mooresville Police Department.

Two firefighters were treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by the Iredell County Fire Marshals Office.
