Cleveland police officer shot dead, man arrested

CLEVELAND, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – It was a memorable 4th of July for the Cleveland Police Department, and for all the wrong reasons.

One of them was shot early in the morning.

Jamieson Ritter, 27, was one of 10 officers executing an arrest warrant in the Hough neighborhood.

The shots were fired from the mouth of a man riding a bicycle, which hit Ritter.

24-year-old Delawnte Hardy was arrested shortly after the incident.

He was wanted on an arrest warrant for aggravated assault.

Gov. Mike DeWine asks that flags be lowered to half-staff in Ritter’s memory.
