A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder in a July 4 death in Niles.

According to Police Chief Jay Holland, officers responded to 311 High Avenue just after 11 p.m. Thursday after a woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend had been shot.

Police found 23-year-old Brandon Borek lying in the driveway. He had been shot in the head. The victim was taken to the hospital where he died.

Chief Holland said the shooting followed a fight at a party held at that address.

Police say that while officers were interviewing witnesses, a 15-year-old boy confessed to the shooting. He was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Justice Center, where he will be charged with murder.

Investigators say Bork arrived at the party uninvited and confronted another man before being shot.

Police asked the Ohio State Bureau of Investigation for assistance.

Holland called the shooting an isolated incident, adding that it did not pose any threat to others.
