10-year-old boy killed in Katy hit-and-run; driver flees

A 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital by Lifeflight. The boy was riding his bike and was struck by a vehicle shortly before 11pm last night. The driver fled the scene and remains at large.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Cy-Fair Police Department responded to the scene of a hit and run that occurred shortly before 11 p.m. last night, July 4.

According to reports from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office’s Vehicular Crimes Division, officers found an unidentified 10-year-old boy in the middle of the intersection of Windy Stone and Concord Green in Katy. They say their ongoing investigation shows the driver was traveling north on Concord Green when he struck the boy.

The driver was driving a dark-colored SUV and did not stop. He fled the scene with the motorcycle still under his vehicle.

The boy was airlifted by Lifeflight to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the crash.

The bike was found at Greenhouse and Keith Harrow, half a mile from the scene of the incident.

There was no report as to why the boy was outside at the time or whether he was with anyone or under parental supervision.

The investigation into this hit-and-run is still ongoing. The driver remains at large and is accused of failing to stop and refusing to assist the victim.
