New Jersey Forest Fire Service battles a wildfire near Batona Campground and Apple Pie Hill in Wharton State Forest

Burlington County, New Jersey (WPVI) — Rescuers respond to a large wildfire in Wharton State Forest in Tabernacle Township, New Jersey, on Friday.

An unknown size fire is burning in the Batona Campground and Apple Pie Hill area, near Tuckerton and Carranza roads.

The Batona Campground has been evacuated and the Batona Trail is closed between Route 532 and Carranza Road.

New Jersey Forest Fire Service and Burlington County firefighters are at the scene.

People are asked to avoid the area.

On Friday, Helicopter 6 extinguished a large brush fire in Wharton State Forest, New Jersey.

New Jersey officials are also reminding residents of the state’s “No Drones in Wildfire Zones” rule.

“If YOU fly, WE can’t!” says NJ Forest Fire Services.
