Ohio boy shot dead in East Columbus, suspect on the run

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A 13-year-old boy is in stable condition following a shooting in East Columbus Friday afternoon.

According to Columbus police, officers were called to Gateway Apartment Homes in the 3300 block of East 7.^th Avenue at 12:07 p.m. Police said a 13-year-old boy was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound.

A sergeant at the apartment complex told NBC4 that a suspect was on the loose, but would not reveal what led to the shooting. Police are still on scene and the area was cordoned off for an active investigation as of 1:30 p.m.
