Children Rescued from Hot Texas Car, Mother Charged

SAN ANTONIO — A Texas mother is facing charges after police say she left her children alone in a hot car.

A woman who wanted to hide her face saw the car and led the rescue of the children, aged between one month and four years.

She had just left her car in the parking lot when she noticed a boy sitting in the front seat, with no adults around.

“He was sweating profusely. This little girl, to me, looked like she was in shock,” she said. “I did a double take and said, no, I’m going to follow my instincts and see what happens.”

After calling 911, she began recording a video that has since gone viral, where she and other witnesses led the children out through an unlocked door.

Friday’s temperatures were in triple digits. It was probably hot in the car.

The children were not seriously injured, but their mother, 33-year-old Angela Garza Amador, faces serious charges. She was arrested when she arrived at the scene.

“I’m just happy I was there at the right time,” said the woman who helped save the children. “I feel like it was a God-send.”

The children live with other relatives.
