Man charged after serious attack on Edinburgh’s Princes Street

A man has been charged in connection with a serious attack which occurred during an argument at a bus stop in Edinburgh.

Police were called to the number 30 bus stop in Princes Street at around midnight on Tuesday to reports of a man with serious injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the 47-year-old man had attempted to intervene in an argument between a man and a woman.

The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh with serious injuries.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

A police spokesman said: “A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault that occurred in Princes Street, Edinburgh, on Tuesday 2 July 2024.

“He is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 8 July 2024 and a report will be given to the procurator fiscal.”
