A Houston police officer was taken to a hospital after being shot at an apartment complex on Hollister Street near U.S. 290, HPD says.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A Houston police officer was injured in gunfire in northwest Houston, investigators said.

The department told Eyewitness News that officers responded to a call at an apartment complex on Hollister Street near US 290 around 8 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said a suspect was taken into custody after the officer was shot. Police said the officer was taken to Memorial Hermann and is in stable condition.

It is unclear what led to the shooting, and no further details were provided.
